Running out of things to say
I've run out of things to say. This blog had a good run, I guess, but now I'm struck silent by the mundanity of my life.
I sleep! I wake up! I eat! I watch TV! I work! I play with cats! That's about it. Sometimes I log on and write about sleeping or waking up, eating butter or cheese, watching something stupid on TV, working hard, or rubbing a cat's belly. But it gets old after a while.
I'm happy, and happiness is boring.

But if you stopped writing about the mundane, maybe you wouldn't be as good at putting the unusual stuff into words. I make a lot of boring paintings, but sometimes I make a really good one. It takes the boring ones to get to the good ones. And anyway, other people see your work differently than you do. Your audience is interested even in the mundane. Your everyday life, and more importantly, the way you think and feel about it, is not like mine or anyone else's, and that's interesting. And sometimes the mundane is illuminating and hilarious, like that entry a while back about your bathroom stall choice. To some degree, it's not what you write about but how you write.

Thanks Amy. I guess maybe I'm going through a dry spell this week, struggling to come up with anything to say. I won't give up on this site completely. I'm sure the words will return.

There's always the one about a certain orange cat and the shower...

:)
That was pretty funny. I wish I had it on video.

Boy, do I agree with Amy! If you stopped your blog, I would lose an extremely entertaining and enlightening part of my day. You write beautifully, and although most of it is daily life, there are some big exceptions, such as the newspaper industry right now. When you decide to write here about something serious, it is so darn good.

I'm starting to feel embarrassed by all these compliments.

I would love to hear about a certain orange cat in the shower.
I would also like to see a picture of said cat, even if he isn't in the shower.
