Wow, we have lives
Ben and I have been crazy busy of late. He's joined a small jazz combo, which is hoping to start getting gigs pretty soon, and he's still involved in the Portland Woodshed Jazz Orchestra, which has been playing more and more. I'm the secretary of our homeowners association, the treasurer of the area Society of Professional Journalists, and in the past year I've added some new friends and family members in the area. Most Sundays we cook with our dinner crew. I go to the gym when I can spare a minute. And now Susan's about to visit, on the footsteps of Laura and Steve, Amy and Kevin, mom. I wonder what will come next?

Dear Courtney, This is the only way I could figure out how to send you an email. My newsletter from the National Press Club says that the club is waiving initiation fees for all new members throughout its current Centennial year. The yearly fee for active non-residents is $167 at present. I don't know whether it would be worth it to you, but I thought you might like to know about it. NPC web site is www.press.org
