What have you been up to at work lately, Courtney?

Oh, I've been analyzing tech firms, digging up data on tax evaders, writing the first American article about a Canadian manufacturer's struggles, exploring the local implications of global energy trends, contemplating where we've been and how far we've come, and trying to create something coherent out of a jumble of numbers.

How about you? What have you been up to a work lately?

I chase two little ones, ages 5 years, and 18 months (your cousins- or second cousins or something).

I spend many an evening driving to the homes of strangers who need me to help them learn how to mother their newborns.

I work a lot. I earn a little.

I love it all, most of the time!

Oh, not much...just helping to cancel a $24 million dollar contract, essentially firing the vendor we've been working with for 5 years; implementing a huge litigation hold on all documentation related to the project; and, helping the State try to figure out how we're going to finish the project without the vendor and with the potential for major litigation!

Excitement!

Also exciting: seeing your by-line! Have you gotten over the coolness of that yet? I hope not, because it's pretty cool.

I have been preparing our school district's annual survey of students in grades 4-12, and all staff, which will go live on Monday. This year we are scanning all the student surveys, so I have had to buy new software and figure out how the documents need to be set up so that when we scan them, it turns into data spreadsheets. The staff will be surveyed electronically on Survey Monkey, wonderful, easy software. It has been intense, but so far we are on schedule.

I'm not allowed to tell you!

Since I'm currently looking for work, I just took a 17-day trip to the UK and Spain, visiting at least 6 cities I'd never been to before. I plan to blog about it soon.

I'm currently working two part-time jobs. In my apprenticeship as a web developer I've been ripping through my boss's to-do list setting up systems for our agents (it's a Real Estate firm).

At the retail place half the store went on clearance sale, so we've been moving everything around. I also gave there so I could free up time to look for jobs in the San Francisco-Bay Area. I'm planning on moving there within the next couple months.
