Community - bah!
I went in to our 12-member homeowners association meeting aware that there were openings on the board for a treasurer and a president, and determined not to take either position. I left with the third seat on the board, secretary. I have this compulsion, when I know I can meet a need that exists in the world, to volunteer. I'm actually trying really hard at work to keep my mouth shut, to not butt in, when people are having a conversation that I know I can contribute to. It's hard.
