Pat is not going to be OK
My neighbor is in the hospital having her leg amputated tonight. There's bleeding on her brain. Nobody knows what to expect for her for the future. I don't think she'll be able to live next door any more, no matter what. There are just too many stairs. I'm so sad. Be careful out there, everybody. These bodies of ours are fragile.

This is so sad and terrible. There's nothing I can think of that you can do except maybe send a card or a note saying you are thinking of her. What has happened to the dog? Is Pat single? Is there a husband/ partner who might need looking in on?
You're right, our bodies, and life, are fragile.
Be safe.
I Love you, Mom

wow. that is terrible. I'll bet the driver of that bus feels awful, too.

Pat is single, I think widowed, but her brother lives just a few doors down and all of us neighbors in this 12-unit row of homes know Pat (she's very friendly) and want to do what we can to help. A couple of people seem to be taking turns with housing the dog. I was thinking I would volunteer to walk him some, too, because he's a young, energetic pooch who needs lots of attention. I think maybe we'll send flowers and a note to the hospital today. The whole situation is awful.

Help with the dog if you can. She'll be worried about him.
