My brother Austin left Reston, Va., for Portland, Ore., this morning. He has already driven 600 miles.
I have to share this excerpt from an e-mail my mom sent me:
When I talked to Austin this evening he told me about some of his experiences. At one rest stop he noticed the incongruous sight of an Amish family seated and eating dinner at a McDonald's. When he went to put gas in the car, a man at the gas station helped him put air in his tire- which was low. When he checked into the hotel, the clerk asked him if he was there for the Elvis convention! I told him I thought that the breakfast crowd ought to be interesting!
Yay for Austin!

What happened? I thought he was sucked into his video game and the allures of home.

I guess that stuff slowed down his departure a bit, but once he was ready he still wanted to hit the road.

Good for him!
Everyone should move here.

I was wondering what happened to Austin and his plan to head west. There will be a majority of Sherwood siblings here. Welcome, Austin!
