I couldn't update my web journal for a month, and now that I'm back I feel like I've lost the ability to be funny and interesting. Boo hoo.

It has not been a funny week. And interesting? "May you live in interesting times". Is that a curse or a wish, or a little of both?
Love you, Mom

You're right.

I went back and perused some of your older web postings. I think the difference now is that you are living a life with things like houses and moving and jobs and marriages. You also have more people reading your page and I know you are sensitive to that fact when you write.
However, you are a good writer, whether you write about the merits of butter, the weather, or finding a house. I think most of your readers enjoy whatever you have to say.

Well, I think you are wrong. There is still a droll undercurrent in much that you write.
Rian is right too, that the business of your life has been very adult in the last year or two, plus we are living in difficult days lately. Don't worry. You'll be silly again soon. Meanwhile, your beautiful, economical writing is a joy, no matter what you are writing about.
