the new place

Our new apartment is on N. Ainsworth a few blocks off Interstate Avenue near I-5, for any one familiar wiht Portland.

It's in this duplex:

Our neighbors seem nice.

Thanks. We'll officially move our bed and stuff in about two weeks, but we're already gradually starting to move in. Here's hoping that it does turn out nicer than our current place. I'm pretty ready to get a house and stop all this apartment hopping, though.

It's one bedroom, no dishwasher. We're hoping to get a portable dishwasher once all the financial craziness associated with moving dies down.

You know, it occurs to me that if you are indeed going to buy a house in the not too distant future, like the next year or two, it might be better not to buy a portable dishwasher, because many homes have built-in dishwashers.

You make a good point, Sue, but not having a dishwasher is a pretty major quality of life drain for us. We're not very good about handwashing right away, things pile up, the kitchen gets messy.

I believe you know my position on the dishwashers..but I'll add in that if you do eventually move into somewhere that has one, you'll be able to sell it off quite easily on craigslist. People like dishwashers. Even broke people like Ryan and I.... if we had not had w/d hookups and had had to drive to a laundromat I would have been more OK with that.
