Ben and I have adopted a cat named Mouse.

She's very cute, as this photo from the Humane Society shows.

How do Mister and Mouse get along? I hope that Mister is happy! Maybe it's time for some kitty hooch.

We left Mouse in our extra bedroom for a day or so to let them get used to the smells. When we let her out, Mister wasn't happy. There was a lot of growling and hissing on his part, and she mostly stayed out of his way. Now they're both asleep on the bed next to each other, so I'd say he's mostly gotten over his issues.

I think Mister's missed Jazzy a lot. He's put on some weight now that he and she aren't able to chase each other around the house. And he's picked up the habit of mewling at the door to the basement, as though he thinks she might be hanging out down there.

I think in the long run, he'll be better off with a new cat around.

Mouse is very good natured and seems to take Mister's presence here in stride.

I'm looking forward to some of your pictures of Mouse and Mister. How old is Miss Mouse?

Love you, Mom

Yay kitties!
Now he has fresh water and a little sister. What more could a cat want? I have to come back up there and meet her.

Mouse is a year and a half old. She's really gotten comfortable in the last day or so. She zipped around the apartment, racing from one end to the other, mewling as she landed, which is the only audible noise we've heard from her other than a very consistent purr. She did this over and over again, and when she got bored she decided to bring a ping pong ball with her from one end of the house to the other for a while.

Mister is a little bit dumbfounded. But he definitely spends less of his time meeping in the mornings and more time keeping a watchful eye on the newcomer.

It's reminiscent, at least visually, of Garfield and Nermal, from the Jim Davis comic strip. She's a blue kitten with all kinds of energy, and he's a large orange cat who now has to share our attentions with her. Lately instead of hissing, he just sort of pushes her out of the way, when she's in front of, say, his food dish, which is quite humorous. He's almost twice her size.
