Our landlord has still not come over to check out the source of our soggy ceiling and water-stained floor. Instead, apparently, he has called the folks in the two upstairs apartments and frightened them with strange questions.
The single guy and the couple knocked a few hours apart on our door, trying to figure out what was going on. Ben showed them the mess that the leak made our bedroom.
While they were here, I'm sure our neighbors also saw all the household messes that Ben and I have created -- the dusty floor, the dirty dishes, the unmade bed.

Both the neighbors upstairs have clogged bathroom sinks, so I'm guessing that has something to do with it.
In Mike's defense, plumbers are expensive, and he wanted to make sure one of the people upstairs didn't overflow their bathtub or something obvious. He now knows the problem is all in the pipes. I expect him to do something soon.
With the stuff that's gone wrong with the place, Mike has fixed all of it as it happened one by one. I think this will be resolved. In any case, I don't see any way Mike can blame water coming in through our ceiling on us.

Oh dear. This is the kind of thing that mothers worry about for their adult children. I confess that moving was the first thought that came to me too. Good luck. In know you like your apartment, and it surely is pretty and well-located.

I should point out that Ben's done essentially all of the work on responding to the situation. I just come home at the end of the day to hear the latest update, pull out my hair and whine.
So Ben's calm attitude is probably more reasonable than my somewhat frantic one. Nonetheless, I still intend to whine and complain about it for a few more days.

Whining and complaining- you learned from the best!
Love you, Mom
