October 07, 2005

Today I met with the event coordinator for the Lewis River Golf Course to put down the deposit for our wedding reception and start ironing out some details. Looks like July 30, 2006, will be the big day, with the ceremony around 10 a.m. and a brunch to follow.

After accepting a big gob of money, the coordinator asked me to hammer out some details. Stuff like how I want my napkins folded and where I want them placed. I just about turned green. Do people really care about this stuff?

Ben and I talked about a couple of different locations, and in the end I voted for the golf course. They returned all my phone calls and they agreed do all the work -- set up, break down, catering, etc. Plus, being not-particularly-famous and located in Woodland, their prices were lower than places in Portland. But really, it was them doing all the work that I liked.

Now it turns out that we still have work to do. We have to design some kind of centerpiece, figure out how to orient the napkins, decide whether a "candle ceremony" or a "sand ceremony" might be appropriate for us, and meet with a chef to finalize the food details. It's kind of funny how much the event coordinator cares about all this.

Isn't gathering awesome people for good food and fun music good enough, no matter what your napkins look like? This party had better rawk by the time all this silly decision-making is at an end.

Yeah, those annoying details are...annoying. Regarding the napkins, I'd probably emphasize my not caring by telling the event coordinator, "listen, either fold them in rectangles or sculpt them to look like Freddy Murcury's head" or soemthing like that.

Yay for morning weddings and brunch, I have no doubt that it will be a rawkin' wedding!

Yeah, I wonder where I got that idea ... :)

I shouldn't stress. Every wedding I've been too has been awesome, and yours is a shining example of that awesomeness.
