It's snowing! I've been told that this is a rare thing in Portland. Right

now we have about a quarter of an inch on our balcony, and large flakes drifting past the

window in the street lights. I made three snowballs and put them in the freezer, to keep

as evidence. The past two weeks of my life have seemed surreal and dream-like, and the

snowballs testify to the reality of the moment.
